Description: Healthcare Fundamentals is a course that provides a professional understanding of patient care in a variety of healthcare settings. This course begins by giving an overview of the history and theory of delivering healthcare. It then dives deeper to explain the principles & methods of both quality improvement and etiquette within the modern healthcare environment. Learners will then be assessed on how to apply these principles and methods within both clinical and administrative healthcare environments. Upon completion of this course learners will be able to demonstrate an understanding and overview of the development and service requirements of healthcare settings. Students will also be able to discern between the different settings of clinical and administrative environments. Application of principles and methods of etiquette and healthcare will include a variety of topics: what annoys patients most about their healthcare service and how to address them, the attention and detail given to their concerns, representation of website and office materials, as well as time management skills and the proper use of technology.

Communication in Healthcare is a course that provides a professional understanding of healthcare communications and the best practices for creating a positive and nurturing environment not only for patients but for co-workers as well. This course begins by giving an overview of how different forms of communication from verbal to body language effect communication in healthcare . It then dives deeper to explain the different types of discipline within a professional environment and how best to communicate these disciplinary actions. Finally it explains different standardized communication skills and how these skills guarantee precision and an environment where workers feel comfortable expressing their concerns.
Upon completion of this course the learner will be able to:

Medical Documentation and Record-Keeping: HIPAA is a course that provides a professional understanding of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and the best practices for medical record keeping and documentation.
This course begins by giving an overview of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act ("HIPAA"), the Standards for Privacy of Individually Identifiable Health Information ("Privacy Rule"), covered entities and uses and disclosures of information. It then dives deeper to explain the best practices of medical record keeping and documentation using real life scenarios. Finally it explains the US HIPAA laws in a healthcare setting and how to implement this act with patients, with 100% accuracy. Learners will then be assessed on how to apply these practices within both clinical and administrative healthcare environments.

Being a Medical Coder is a course that provides an in depth look at the world of being a medical coder. This course begins by giving a close look at the benefits of being a medical coder. We look at the different work environments for medical coders and the advantages of working in this exciting career. The course then explores two of the largest industry certifying bodies, AHIMA and AAPC. You will explore the different industry certification credentials available through these certifying bodies and how they can assist you in reaching your career goals. With the interactive activities and quiz, this course will allow you to determine if stepping into the world of Medical Coding is right for you!
Upon completion of this course the learner will be able to:
• Describe the benefits and advantages of being a medical coder
• List the different industry certifications offered through AHIMA and AAPC
• Describe the advantages of AHIMA and AAPC membership
• List the career advantages of obtaining an industry certification
