CourseGraphic In this multimedia, interactive presentation, Dr. Womack traces the life and work of Beatles producer George Martin from his formative years in working-class North London and his service in the Fleet Air Arm during the Second World War through his years at Parlophone Records and his eventual emergence as the most esteemed producer of his age. Illustrated with a host of unpublished photographs, video selections, and sound clips, Dr. Womack brings Sir George’s story vividly to life, including close attention to the manner in which he remade himself from a lower-class Londoner into a posh gentleman with a “cut-glass” English accent. In addition to exploring his unlikely matriculation at the Guildhall School of Music, Dr. Womack addresses the producer’s improbable association with the Beatles, the Liverpool beat band that would change his life in innumerable and unforeseen ways.
