« back to classes page
Charlie McCormick Ph.D., President of Schreiner University, grew up cruising College Avenue in Snyder, Texas, on Friday and Saturday nights. Around the nation, other middle-class kids cruised local strips in their communities as well. Later, kids cruised on the internet and at regional shopping malls. This Folklore presentation explores the transformation of cruising the local strip from a beloved tradition of adolescents to an activity which later became demonized. This Presentation will be of interest to all who participated in the American craze of cruising. Providing each of us the opportunity to better understand through Folklore the world in which we live and be empowered to enjoy special nuances of our lives
