ID : 48729
« back to classes page
ClassGraphic Cattle was the first million dollar industry in Texas. Without the Cowboy there would have been no cattle industry. Without Mexican Vaqueros knowledge of utilizing horses for herding cattle the cowboy would not have existed. Without the Civil War and emergence of free African American’s in need of work and millions of free range cattle the merging of cultures that formed the old west might not have occurred. Join Texas History teacher extraordinaire Clifton Fifer as he explores the merging of cultures in the old west through storytelling, music, poetry, dance and artifacts. Go beyond the myths to learn the importance of the unique blending pot of culture that evolved to make Texas what it is today.
