« back to classes page
Bonsai is an ancient art form that was first created in China and after the second world war became popular in Japan.  Bonsai is based upon the idea of a plant in a small pot that emulates the beauty of nature.  If a plant, typically a tree, can be grown in a container such as a pot, it can be trained to show the natural beauty of one growing wild in nature.  The presentation will demonstrate and discuss how a tree is selected to become a bonsai, the process of planting it in a bonsai pot, how it is designed and pruned, and the soil necessary for its' healthy growth.  The creation and care of bonsai trees that will do well in the Hill Country is emphasized.
