A Geologic Look at the Texas Hill Country

ID : 49291
« back to classes page
Two hundred and fifty years ago the geologic history of Central Texas, or anywhere else for that matter, was pretty simple.  There wasn't any.  It was generally assumed that the world was always just as we see it now.  But thanks to the ability to 'age date' rocks, a better understanding of plate tectonics, the ability to piece together a timeline for various life forms and extensive research; we can now do much better.  This course is intended to guide you through both the process itself as well as an understanding of our particular history via slides, rock samples and a few fossils.  That history extends over more than 1.3 billion years; almost 30% of earth's history.
