Preston Weatherred shares insights from his private collection of Americana Artifacts that audiences enjoy seeing and discussing. Learn up-close how our American ancestors conducted their daily lives. See how they prepared their food, what they wore, how they defended themselves, manufactured their wares and insights into the various trades and professions of the times. This class is centered upon examination of artifacts from the speaker's private collection. They include a shirt worn by the grandfather of the inventor, Samuel Morse, as part of his uniform accoutrement at the Battle of Bunker Hill. The intent of the class is to give the audience a visual exposure into the daily lives of people of the period across their social spectrum. The audience is invited to closely examine the pieces displayed after the formal presentation.
